Eyelids, breasts, liposuction, tummy tuck, facial modeling ... Cosmetic surgery is more than ever popular with people of all ages.
"Demand is terrible!" Confirms Dr. Alain Labrecque, director at the Medical City, at Place de la Cité. The clinic has ten beds with monitors for day surgery, in addition to three seats in the recovery room, under the supervision of two nurses. The center even has two small isolation rooms with negative pressure, which were offered free to the public network during the episode of H1N1 last fall.
"We have two other nurses in the operating room, a respiratory therapist, an agent for sterilization and other maintenance. The golden rule is to make no compromise on the qualified personnel and good equipment. A clinic with surgical suite must have a respiratory therapist, because it will avoid the disaster that will destroy your name. It has refused three surgeons who do not meet our standards.
"Sterilization is often the weakest link in surgery centers. If you see somewhere a sterilizing machine as big as a microwave oven, chances are it is a unit of Dentistry. The sterilization room requires an independent ventilation, which is not the case everywhere, "states Dr. Labrecque, who designed and oversaw the development of the Medical City in the smallest details, stretchers to ergonomics warm blankets provided to the recovery room.
