The National Congress of Podiatry meet in Gijón to a thousand experts Nearly a thousand podiatrists will meet in the National Congress of Podiatry to be held in Gijón from 9 to 11 October and which will discuss issues related to this medical discipline, as the most common diseases or the latest techniques in the treatment . The speakers will address the biomechanics, ortopodología, surgery, diabetic foot or foot child, among other issues relevant to this specialty. Also focus on less common subjects such as pharmacology, diagnostic imaging and medicine applied to the daily practice of professionals. The conference is organized by the College of Chiropodists of Asturias and health interest is recognized by the Ministry of Health. In parallel we will develop a program of podiatry in the street started in September and in which patients and practitioners shared their experiences. In addition, three patients will receive free splints Dr. Douglas Richie. In particular will be treated a girl with severe ankle, a man with a degenerative problem in his ankle and injured in the earthquake in Italy last year suffering from compartment syndrome. There will also be other innovative activities designed to bring the profession to the public, like a painting competition. The Minister of Health of Asturias, José Ramón Quirós, preside over the opening by the mayor, Paz Fernández Felgueroso, and President of the General Council of Chiropodists of Spain, Virginia Novel i Marti.
